  • Building and occupancy planning
  • Strategic space governance policy
  • Strategic space allocation decisions to the Chancellor's Cabinet, and
  • Ad hoc strategic space planning groups, such as the UCSF 2030 Task Force.

Research and Administrative Space Policy (RASP) Working Group

In August 2017, EVCP Dan Lowenstein, SVC Paul Jenny, and SOM VD Bruce Wintroub established the Research and Administrative Space Policy Working Group (RASP) as a temporary task force designed to address the growing sense of urgency around the efficiency of UCSF’s research and administrative space use. RASP was charged with:

  1. Recommending metrics and associated targets to objectively measure space utilization and productivity.
  2. Recommending revisions to campus space policy.
  3. Recommending revisions to space governance structure and clarifications to roles and responsibilities.

The UCSF Space Management Subcommittee began evaluating the working group’s recommendations in October 2018 for possible implementation in the coming year.
